The first sets released this month is Card Captor Sakura TV Volume 1, Weiss Kreuz Volume 1, and RAYEARTH OVA.
Produced by KIDZscreen & KNOP, who licensed these titles with help from local TV stations.
All DVDs are encoded in Region 3 ONLY, with original Japanese language, and Indonesian & English subtitles available.
This is quite a breakthrough, because previously all anime titles licensed for Indonesia are available only in VCD format with Indonesian language dubbing only.

JLCC (Japanese Language & Culture Center), a private japanese language school in Bandung, held a Japanese exhibition on Sunday, 17th February 2002.
Although this is the first time such occasion has ever been presented in Bandung, it went very succesful.

More anime & tokusatsu shows are being broadcasted by Indonesian private TV networks, such as SCTV, Indosiar, etc.
Some of them are Digimon, Pokemon, Monster Farm, Rurouni Kenshin, etc.
TransTV, a relatively new TV station, broadcasts Jubei-chan and TRIGUN.
It's very unfortunate though, that all of them are dubbed in Indonesian language.
Meanwhile, AXN, a cable-TV network broadcasted via Satellite by INDOVISION, currently broadcasting 5 anime shows every Monday to Friday, consisting of Fushigi Yuugi, Strange Dawn, Slam Dunk, Taiho Shichauzo & Ima Soko Boku ni Iru, followed by 2 episodes of EL-HAZARD The Alternative World every Saturday and 2 episodes of NieA_7 every Sunday.
And best of all, they are subbed in English.

TransTV, a new local TV station, is expected to broadcast anime shows. Among the titles rumoured are Neon Genesis EVANGELION and LOVE HINA. TransTV will be the first TV station in Indonesia with total digital operations, broadcasting shows without the need of videotapes. Rumours also stated that this new TV station is funded by Japanese entertainment companies.

Official Neon Genesis EVANGELION VCDs with Indonesian language subtitles has been released up to volume 6. It first hits the street almost 3 months ago, with release schedule around 2 to 4 weeks. The licensee company is TORA, which also holds the license for distributing Card Captor SAKURA. The retail price is only Rp. 15.000,- (about $1.5).
It's so cheap because the company is only able to purchase the masters for production in BETA format. The quality suffers a lot compare even to Hong Kong Bootleg DVDs, but it's quite a breakthrough, considering that it's an original licensed products.

2nd Anime & Game Exhibition (AGE) will be held at Surabaya again (thank God!). Previously, it'll take place on July 10 to 15. According to a staff of Gundam Best Shop (who is the sponsor of this exhibition) AGE will be delayed due to some reason of political condition in Indonesia which is still unstable. If it's delayed, then AGE will be held sometimes on October. Well, I hope it's not delayed, because I've prepared my saving to buy as many Anime merchandise as I can there. ^_^

Pokemon TV series begins to be aired on SCTV March 3,2001. The series is broadcasted every Saturday and Sunday on 7 PM. However, there're only 26 episodes temporarily, according to SCTV. Too bad, it's been dubbed into Indonesian (again), and even worse, they also change the characters' name, as follows: - the main hero, "ASH" renamed into "ALI" ! What !? From Satoshi into Ash, and now...ALI !? They (SCTV) said, their purpose was to Indonesian-nize the series. *sigh* - Ash's rival, "GARY" renamed into "GERI". Well, it's not so different than the original, at least for the spelling. ^_^ - Gary's grandfather, Prof."OAK" renamed into "OKIDO". Hm...this one sounds like the Japanese... I don't know about the others, because the series just started. What, you're asking 'bout the Pokemon's dub ? Nope, I think it's not dubbed, at least for Pikachu's voice. ^_^

Card Captor Sakura The Movie aired on TPI at December 31,2000. Too bad, it's been dubbed in Indonesian. (I prefer the Subtitled version rather than the current Dubbed version! ^_^)

Hotaru no Haka (Grave of the Fireflies) was screened at the Jakarta International Film Festival (Jiffest). People who came were mostly between 14-35 years old. Unfortunately the sound quality wasn't so good. Perhaps the film wasn't kept properly...
Last year Perfect Blue was screened at the first Jiffest. It was so popular the venue was moved to a bigger theatre to accomodate the demand.
