Well.. I don't know whether this can be classified as anime news, but City Hunter's creator's new series Angel Heart will be on sale in Singapore Kino ( most manga n anime books comes out the fastest at Kinokuniya) from the 27/28 of Oct. It has been a long wait for most fans. But i heard the Chinese version will be out in Early Nov. Wonder how they managed to get the Chinese version out so fast this time

Hate to say this but the anime in Singapore are really pathetic. Currently, they are showing cardcaptor Sakura and Slam dunk on Saturday, Kenshin on Sunday and that's about it. I really wish they would show more and I especially hanker for YuYuhakusho but it probably contains a bit too much bloodshed for the censors here. But with the opening of another TV station, prospects o more anime looks much better. Now, there's GTO on weekdays. Let's hope they show more.

About two or three weeks ago, singapore TV (TCS) started showing Doraemon after pokemon and before akazukin cha cha. While i have no qualms about watching the robot cat, i cant stand the crappy singaporean voice actors who dubbed the series into english. The singaporean accent is very obvious and annoyingly distracting, while not conveying the emotions of the characters in doraemon... (when nobita and doraemon are having fun... the go "wheee!" in a bored tone of voice >__<) Bleh and a triple Ugh! for IMMG, the company who syndicated it on singapore tv for doing such a poor job on a fun anime...

There is a "Singapore Animation Fiesta 2000" that's going to be held in June between the 9th and 12th. Among the shows are a "Toei Story", "Kido Senshi Gundam", "The making of Perfect Blue" and "Perfect Blue". At the moment i know no details wether the animations Gundam and Perfect Blue are going to be translated to english by dubbed or subbed or what the "Toei Story" will include. (featuring well-loved 70's anime classics?) This shall be the third Animation Festival that i know of in singapore that shows Japanese Anime. But, why havent i seen a Princess Mononoke in the theatres yet? Why? Is it even out yet? *whimper* the isolation of english anime from singapore... *sniff sniff*

A while back (A year ago to be exact), I have experienced probably Singapore's first Arts Festival (at least, one that ive managed to attend). It can't really be termed as an Anime convention since Anime took only a small part of a "small" fair that focuses on cartoons of all kinds and some computer software. However, the anime that was being presented was an episode of Sailormoon and Utena, Sailormoon Movie R. These anime was presented none other than Kunihiko Ikuhara himself and gave us a seminar on anime history and explained how he worked on Sailormoon and Utena. There were only a few problems during the fair and that the Anime were imported Japanese LDs (True Japanese dialog but no subtitle which is good, maybe its from Mr. Ikuhara's personal collection? ^-^;;;) and at one point during the Sailormoon movie, the LD had to be changed to side 2 to which caused quite a laugh at an unexpected occurence. It wasnt much of an experience compared to the Anime Conventions of !
Japan and the US. However, as small as it was, it was quite fun and i hope to enter a "real" Anime Convention sometime in the future.
